In the council has discussed the progress of remediation and green chemistry

The representatives of Novamont Matrica and stressed that the initial assessments made on the basis of agronomic crops started in Porto Torres, Bonassai, Ottana and Chiaramonti, for a total of 15 hectares, are positive. The forecast for this first year of operation is to produce crops on about 300 hectares, increasing to 6 thousand in 2013. The design of sustainable chemical plant also includes the construction of a biomass power plant, carried out by Enipower. During the meeting it was clarified that the town center will march only with materials of plant origin. The feasibility study was completed and in the first half of 2012 will require the necessary permissions to proceed with construction. The hypothesis is that the unit can be started in late 2015 and early 2016. The engineers have taken have ensured the involvement of local businesses, as provided by 'Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding signed on green chemistry in May of last year. "The projects go ahead on schedule and so far all agreements have been respected," said Mayor Beniamino Scarpa. "The signal of a change from the past - said the mayor - comes to us as soon as possible after the request of the permitting and the recent opening of the Center research Matrica. We asked for a continuous dialogue with the leaders of Eni and Novamont, which have accepted it without hesitation, because we believe that the representatives of the citizens have a right to know the progress and to have understood the matter for recovery plans and development of our production area.
